New Gloucester Democratic Committee
We value people over political affiliation.
Since 2006, the New Gloucester Democratic Committee has been uniting the liberal side of our beautiful Maine town. We work to elect Democratic and progressive independent leaders at all levels of government, from the school board to the White House.
We believe in the power of grassroots and investing in our local community. Beyond the campaign season, the New Gloucester Democrats work to hold up the ideals of the Democratic platform by supporting local people, not just our politicians.
You don’t need to be registered Democrat to join us; we welcome all who believe in liberal values such as:
A person’s right to bodily autonomy and reproductive justice.
Social justice and full equality under the law in all aspects of society, regardless of a person’s race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, socioeconomic status, citizenship status, or national origin.
The need to remedy the unjust influence of powerful elites, who have concentrated too much wealth in too few hands and threaten our democracy and the health of our economy.

If those values, or others within the Maine Democratic Platform, resonate with you, we’d love to have you join our meetings and email list. But, we understand that the two-party system has many people discouraged. If you want to work for a more welcoming and community-oriented New Gloucester, but not within a political party (but really, we’d love to have you!), we also suggest the local progressive advocacy groups Rural Maine Rising, Grassroots New Gloucester, and New Gloucester United Against Racism as places to promote change.
