The New Gloucester Democratic Committee is located in New Gloucester, Maine, which was settled on the unceded territory of the Wabanaki Confederacy.

We recognize, respect, and honor the current Tribes who comprise the Wabanaki Confederacy: the Maliseet, Micmac, Penobscot, and Passamaquoddy peoples, and affirm their inherent sovereignty as stewards of this land.

We remember the Tribes whose lives and land were taken through genocidal strategies of colonial settlement, and we commit to the ongoing work of decolonization in New Gloucester and beyond.*

The New Gloucester Democratic Committee believes in justice, inclusion, and equity. We are dedicated to ensuring our actions align with our beliefs. We are in the process of creating subcommittees dedicated to supporting our local BIPOC, disabled, and LGBTQIA+ committee-and-community members.

Everyone in New Gloucester should be able to live their lives openly and without fear, regardless of the color of their skin, the religion they practice, their gender identity, their sexual orientation, the nation from which they hail, their citizenship status, their disability, or their socioeconomic status.*

We do better when we know better. Please let us know if you have seen ways we can improve our inclusion initiatives.
